Disassembly

Most screws needed to be drilled out and rethreaded, as they > were rusted solid. Bottle door was warped shut and people had tried to pry > it open causing many little dents. With time I finally got it freed.

Sanding Striping

Machine had been sandblasted years before I bought it, and sprayed with quality epoxy primer. But had sat out since then. I re-sanblasted the areas that needed it.

BodyWork

All rusted sections were cut out and new welded in. In a couple of areas where this wasn't practical I used fiberglass to fill in some tiny holes.

MetalWork

Evercoat Lightweight body filler. Wiped down with metal etch (osfo). Wiped down with thinner (wash grade). And tack ragged before shooting.

Painting

Painting -- Nason epoxy primer (red)two coats. Countless surfacer coats > (this machine was extremely wavey). Final guide coat in contrasting color. Used napa generic brand surfacers. Sanded to 800 grit and used Sherwin williams Genesis Paint for the color coats. Got a super deal on this stuff at a local show (otherwise way to expensive, $260 for a gallon with hardner). Only had to color sand the white on one side as I had multiple runs and sags in one area. Red turned out nice with moderate orange peel, but not bad enough to need sanding.

EmbossingDecals

Used decals aquired from funtronics. All worked very well. But front decal was very difficult to put on.

Rubber

Rubber -- All these items were also purchased from funtronics. The main gasket is to stiff to fit great so I added another gasket to the center of it. Luckily all items I needed are reproduced.

Replating

None needed. But one day I might have the toe panel plated.

CoinMech

Decided not to use a coin mechinism.

Cooling System

Bought a complete unit off ebay, that cools great. Had to do some work to get it fit my machine. I believe it was out of a cavalier 64.

Electrical

Only rewired from the hot leads off the compressor.

Other

Had to fabricate a door liner and port assembly. Added lights to the port assembly, since I have always liked the light up machines.
